Norman Mailer did not want to let a little fear get the better of him. For Mr. Mailer, the proudly pugilistic giant of American literature, being scared of heights was unacceptable. Heck, he lived in Brooklyn Heights.

Call for Papers
The James Jones Society and Norman Mailer Society will sponsor a joint conference at the University of Texas, Austin, November 10-12, 2011. The event is co-sponsored by the Harry Ransom Center and will open with a wine and cheese reception, Wednesday, November 9th from 7-9 p.m.
