Over the years many of you have asked about the film adaptation of my debut novel, The Danish Girl. It was first optioned fifteen years ago and was close to going into production many times. Finally last February the filming began. On sound stages in London and location in Brussels and Copenhagen, The Danish Girl was brought to life by director Tom Hooper, who won the Academy Award for his mesmerizing film, The King’s Speech. Eddie Redmayne, who won the Academy Award this year for his remarkable portrait of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, plays Lili Elbe. Swedish actress Alicia Vikander plays Lili’s wife, Gerda. Both give extraordinary performances. The film opens November 27. I hope you get to see it. In the meantime, check out the stunning trailer.
