Norman Mailer Society 11th International Conference October 23-27, 2013
“Norman Mailer at 90: Novelist, Journalist, Essayist, Filmmaker, and much more.” (#MailerConf13)
Presentations are encouraged on any topic related to Norman Mailer’s life and work.
Please send inquiries and/or abstracts by May 1, 2013 to Phillip Sipiora, conference director (psipiora gmail com) or Michael Shuman, conference co-director (mshuman2 gmail com). The conference will include individual presentations as well as roundtable discussion panels. Conference organizers encourage panel submissions.
Our dates for the 2013 Conference of the Norman Mailer Society are October 23-27 at the Sarasota Holiday Inn Lido Beach. Reservations can be made directly through the hotel. Complete registration info will be made available soon. There will be two choices of rooms: ocean view ($169) and interior view ($139). All reservations must be made by September 16, 2013. In order to receive the preferred rates, for which you are contracted, individuals with telephone requests must identify themselves with Norman Mailer Society 2013 Conference. Individuals need to call the hotel at (800) 892-9174 for reservations.

2013 Individual Registration Fee: $150

2013 Guest Fee $35
All Panel and Roundtable Presenters and Moderators must be members of the Norman Mailer Society. Each Presenter and Moderator must pay the respective registration fee listed above. Each Presenter and Moderator may bring a “guest” who must pay a Guest Fee of $35. The “guest” does NOT have to be a member.
If someone who is NOT a presenter or moderator and attends the conference, that person must be a member, must pay the respective registration fee, and can have a “guest” who must pay a Guest Fee of $35. The “guest” does NOT have to be a member.
If someone attends the conference ALONE and does NOT bring a “guest”, that person must be a member and must pay the respective conference fee.
GUEST is defined as a spouse, brother/sister, mother/father, friend, companion, anyone…
NOTE: Only 2013 Norman Mailer Society Members (and LIFE members) will receive a copy of the 2013 issue of The Mailer Review (a $25 value)
This fee schedule is being implemented this conference year (2013) on a trial-basis in hopes of making the conference accessible and attractive to more people. The results will be analyzed at the conference’s conclusion to determine if the fee schedule will be continued in 2014.
